The Catholic Church in Australia marks Safeguarding Sunday (formerly Child Protection Sunday) on the second Sunday of September – at the conclusion of National Child Protection Week. Safeguarding Sunday seeks to acknowledge the immense damage caused by the sexual abuse of children and adults at risk, including by priests, religious and lay people within Catholic contexts. It makes a commitment to practices and protocols that create and maintain safe environments for all people. It invites people to pray for those harmed by abuse directly and indirectly.
NSW Police Legacy have released their Child Safety Handbook. It is a wonderful, practical resource for families and schools.

This week was National Child Protection Week. The theme was ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’: ‘Where we start matters’.
National Child Protection Week is a great time to consider how we all play a part in creating a safe and supportive community for children and young people. At CSBB we see safeguarding as a shared responsibility and commit to ensuring our schools are safe for students to grow and flourish.

On Wednesday, August 30, Mrs Farrugia’s class, who have been studying money this term, was able to have a community access visit to Bunnings at Lake Haven.
The students were met by Ann Marie, who provided aprons, fabric pens, and paints to enable the students to design their own aprons to keep. Everyone was feeling very creative and drew some lovely artwork.
They also had the opportunity to visit the cafe and buy some treats. We had a look around the store and then returned to school.
We want to thank Bunnings for being very welcoming and inviting us to return next term. Everyone had a lovely time, and we look forward to visiting again soon.
Last Friday, we celebrated the important men in the lives of our students with a BBQ breakfast and some fun activities. Thank you to all who joined us. It was a fantastic morning with lots of positive feedback from those who attended.
Once again, thank you to our wonderful helpers who organised, cooked, served, and entertained. These events would not be possible without you.
Last week our students and staff participated the College’s Compassion Cup Challenge.
We were blessed with amazing weather as we enjoyed a BBQ lunch and cheered on our House colours in the Oz tag challenge. Congratulations to Kildare, who came out victorious!
A big Thank you goes out to everyone who organised the afternoon. It was a huge success with funds raised going to Year 12 end of year events.
Recently, Isaiah R of Year 10, competed in the Multisport National Championships held in Townsville.
From his results during this event, Isaiah has successfully made it to the Australian team 2024 for the Duathlon Sprint in his age group.
This is another great result from Isaiah, in a sport he is proving to be amazing at and is very passionate about.
We are certain we will be hearing of many more achievements from Isaiah before the National Championship in 2024.
Well done, Isaiah.
