St Mary’s Student Helpers

By | News, Sport | No Comments

Last term 44 of our students represented the College at St Mary’s Catholic School Toukley athletics carnival, this is the largest number of students we have sent to assist on the day. Our students once again were amazing and went above and beyond in the rain, wind and freezing cold.

Our students ran the long jump events, moved around with year groups and staff from St Mary’s. Nothing was too much trouble for our students, and they did it all with a big smile. Thank to Ms Walters for assisting the students with long jump and overseeing the day.

The feedback from St Mary’s is overwhelming and a positive reflection of all our students. Well done to all our students who attended, keep doing the College proud.

Assemblies and House Challenges

By | News, Sport | No Comments

Our assemblies are always filled with information, reflection, merits, and school spirit.  It is always a joy seeing so many students receiving merit awards for their consistent hard work.  Well done!

Our House Advocates never cease to surprise the students and staff with fun, engaging activities that they always enjoy, and no one could keep a straight face.  Laughter everywhere.   This week staff were decked out with safety helmet, protective googly eye googles, and rubber chickens taped to their feet.  Students were blind folded and given a pool noodle.  Not only did the students get to gain points for their house, but they got to chase their teachers around and give them a good old whack.

Congratulations to Lakes for taking out the win today followed by Terry, Kildare and Walker.

Broken Bay Netball

Last week Charlotte N, Xuela F and Tynisha F took part in the U18 Broken Bay Netball trials held at St Leo’s College Wahroonga.  Selection trials are never easy playing against the best in your diocese, our students all played extremely well.  The calibre of talent amongst the girls was outstanding and made the selectors decision more challenging.

Congratulations Tynisha F of Year 11 on her selection in the Broken Bay U18 Netball team 2023.  Wishing you all the best for the upcoming Netball tournament next term.

On Tuesday 13 June, 3 of our students represented Broken Bay at the Catholic Schools Cross Country held at Sydney Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park.  Congratulations to Isaiah R of Year 10 placing 11th overall and only just missing out on the CSNSW Team.  Jack M and Chase B of Year 11 both finishing in the middle of the pack.  These are great results for all 3 boys and the College.

Well done boys.  You are all champions in our eyes.

Here at St Brigid’s we not only enjoy acknowledging our students on their achievements but also the staff.  Congratulations to Miss Ardern and Mr Barnett on their recent sporting achievements.

Miss Ardern is the Catholic Schools NSW Volleyball Coach for Open Girl’s, on Friday 9 June her team made it through to the finals held at Sydney Olympic Park.  The team put in a great effort, unfortunately on the day Catholic School NSW team came away 2nd overall, losing to Combine High Schools team.  Thank you, Miss Ardern, for your dedication and support to this team and congratulations.

Mr Barnett and his team, Central Coast Christian Football representative team won the state championships in Illawarra over the long weekend.  Mr Barnett was also named on the NSW representative team to take on other associations from all over the country and New Zealand in Queensland later this year.  Well done Mr Barnett!

Junior Soccer

That’s a wrap for Broken Bay Soccer with our Year 7 teams traveling down to Manly Tuesday for their soccer gala day.  Congratulations to both our teams on great sportsmanship and representing the College proudly.  It’s another first for these Year 7 students coming together in a sport they have not all played or played together as a team before.  They did exceptionally well, coming together as a team and had a good solid go.  Well done!

Thank you to Mrs Walters and Mr Philpot for taking the teams today.

NNSW Regional Futsal Tournament

By | News, Sport | No Comments

Our U16’s and Opens Boys Futsal teams made the journey to Maitland to play in the Northern NSW futsal school’s tournament.  With some last-minute team changes due to injury, our boys rose above the challenges and played well against some tough opposition, having fun and enjoying the experience.  Thanks Mr Nield and Ms Giblin for taking the teams.
