HELP WANTED! – Year 11 Construction Work Placements Request

Our Year 11 Students in VET Construction (pathways) need to connect with Trades in the profession and complete a week (35hrs) of work placement to experience realistic and contextual work as part of their course. The dates we have been allocated are Term 2 week 6 (June 3-7) and we have 12 students currently in the course.

We are looking for local businesses who are willing to take on a student for a week (or how long 35 hours is in working situations) but ideally, they will be exposed to the Construction industry. Our students are fully insured by the Catholic Church Insurance, and we can supply you with the documentation. Most students are still 16 and may be able to travel to you locally, however they will be covered by our travel insurance in vehicles to and from work sites.

We are seeking anyone in the Construction trades and hold the qualification, and able to take on a student for a week. It can be done outside these dates; it can be later in the year (it may even potentially be in the holidays). Could you please forward your details to the Teacher – Mr Mark Peterson mark.peterson@dbb.catholic.edu.au

PLEASE Note – students aren’t allowed to work at heights above 1.9m, confined spaces etc.

The following are the preferred trades.

Construction/Carpentry/
Cabinet maker/Joinery

Concreting
Landscaping Construction

Bricklayer
Tiler
Roof Plumber

Also applicable – Plumbing and potentially Electrical students in certain circumstances

Thank you.
